We are always looking for volunteers to help with the next pageant and other events throughout the year. On this page, you will find a list of all the areas where we need volunteers. As a volunteer, you can give as little or as much time as you want.

Do you have great ideas for the organization? If so, then we want you! Fill out an online volunteer application form today.

To make sure the next Ms. Wheelchair Tennessee pageant runs smoothly, we have created several Coordinator Positions. These coordinators will be responsible for a particular portion of the pageant. All coordinators will have volunteers to assist them, and they will answer directly to the State Coordinator. If you are interested in one of the coordinator positions below or know someone who would be a good fit, please fill out an online application form.

Little Miss Coordinator and Volunteer Positions

We require a coordinator and volunteers for the Little Miss category as well as a separate panel of judges for this category. This group consists of girls ages 6-12. This person must have experience working with children with disabilities ages 6-12, well organized, easy to reach, and good at planning events.

Judge Coordinator and Volunteer Positions

The Judge Coordinator educates the judges on how the judging process works. This person’s responsibility is to make sure the judges have all materials needed (paper, pens, calculators, etc…), keep track of time during judging sessions and platform speeches, and to direct contestants to the interview room. The Judge Coordinator assists contestants with drawing numbers to determine the order of platform speeches and fishbowl questions. They also give direction during the fishbowl questions. The Judge Coordinator collects all judging notebooks at the end of the competition and gives them to the State Coordinator. This person must be organized and good at providing directions. He or she is required to attend the entire pageant from start to finish.

Decoration Coordinator and Volunteer Positions

The Decoration Coordinator and volunteers are responsible for purchasing decorations, gifts, and flowers within the specified budget. The decoration coordinator is also responsible for creating contestant gift bags and for ordering and picking up the flowers for the contestants. They must be artistic and be able to follow a budget.

Hair and Makeup Coordinator and Volunteer Positions

They must be fashionable and have a basic understanding of cosmetology.

Ms. Wheelchair Tennessee is not a beauty pageant; however, the contestants like to look nice and they deserve some pampering. Hair and makeup is not judged.

Food Coordinator and Volunteer Positions

The Food Coordinator and volunteers are responsible for all food and beverage at the pageant. They are responsible for developing a menu, picking up food if needed, coordinating with the catering company or hotel food staff if food is catered, and soliciting donations of food. They are responsible for keeping track of food allergies and special food requests. They are responsible for making sure plates, napkins, cups, straws and silverware (including plastic) are available. The Food Coordinator and volunteers are also responsible for making sure all food and waste are cleaned up. We would like people with food experience such as a caterer to be in charge of food. They must also be good at planning, predicting amount of food, developing a budget, and following a budget.

Sponsor Coordinator and Volunteer Positions

The Sponsor Coordinator and volunteers are responsible for directing sponsors and exhibitors as to where they can set up displays and to try to accommodate special requests and needs of the sponsors. They are responsible for making sure sponsors are listed in the program, for sponsor recognition, and for handing out awards to the sponsors. They must be great with people and act as an ambassador to the business community and other organizations. We want to keep our sponsors happy.

Workshop Coordinator and Volunteer Positions

The Workshop Coordinator and volunteers are responsible for booking speakers and organizations to hold workshops during the event. They will work with the Little Miss Coordinator to coordinate their workshops as well. This person is responsible for facilitating workshops when needed, keeping track of time, introducing speakers, and making sure the workshop leaders have all the equipment they need to present. They are basically there to assist the workshop leader. They must be outgoing, enthusiastic, great with people, and have the ability to stay on task and keep with the schedule.
