We are currently looking for volunteers to help with the next pageant and throughout the year. We have listed the areas where we need volunteers on this page. The more volunteers, the bigger the organization, and the better the pageant. As a volunteer, you can give as little or as much time as you want.

To make sure the next Ms. Wheelchair Tennessee pageant runs smoothly, we have created several coordinator positions. These coordinators will be responsible for a particular portion of the pageant. All coordinators will have volunteers under them, and they will answer directly to the State Coordinator. Little Miss Coordinator and Volunteer Positions
We are searching for a separate coordinator and volunteers for the Little Miss category as well as a separate panel of judges for this category. This category covers girls ages 6-12. The Little Miss coordinator would be responsible for developing the workshops, finding activities, developing questions for the judges, and helping (along with the State coordinator) to find judges. This person must have experience working with children with disabilities ages 6-12, well organized, easy to reach, and good at planning events.
Judge Coordinator and Volunteer Positions
The judge coordinator educates the judges on how the judging process works. Their responsibility is to make sure the judges have all materials needed (paper, pens, calculators, etc…), keep track of time during judging sessions and platform speeches, and to direct contestants to the judges’ room. The judge coordinator allows contestants to draw numbers to determine order of platform speeches and fishbowl questions. They give direction during the fishbowl questions. The judge coordinator collects all judging notebooks at the end of the competition and gives them to the State Coordinator. This person must be organized and good at providing directions. They are required to attend the entire pageant from start to finish.
Decoration Coordinator and Volunteer Positions
The decoration coordinator and volunteers are responsible for purchasing decorations, gifts, and flowers within the specified budget. They may also solicit donations of decorations, gifts, and flowers. They are responsible for developing a design and plan for decorating the pageant venue as well as cleaning up the decorations. The decoration coordinator is also responsible for creating contestant gift bags and for ordering and picking up the flowers for the contestants. They must be artistic and be able to follow a budget.
Hair and Makeup Coordinator and Volunteer Positions
The hair and makeup coordinator and volunteers are responsible for coordinating; you guessed it, hair and makeup. They are responsible for making sure there are people to help the contestants with hair and makeup. They can recruit volunteers or solicit the help of a salon. They must be fashionable and have a basic understanding of cosmetology. Ms. Wheelchair Tennessee is not a beauty pageant; however, the contestants like to look nice and they deserve some pampering. Hair and makeup is not judged.
Food Coordinator and Volunteer Positions
The food coordinator and volunteers are responsible for all food and beverage at the pageant. They are responsible for developing a menu, picking up food if needed, coordinating with the catering company or hotel food staff if food is catered, and soliciting donations of food. They are responsible for keeping track of food allergies and special food requests. They are responsible for making sure plates, napkins, cups, straws and silverware (including plastic) are available. The food coordinator and volunteers are also responsible for making sure all food and trash are cleaned up. We would like people with food experience such as a caterer to be in charge of food. They must also be good at planning, predicting amount of food, developing a budget, and following a budget.
Sponsor Coordinator and Volunteer Positions
The sponsor coordinator and volunteers are responsible for directing sponsors and exhibitors as to where to setup tables and exhibits and to try to accommodate special requests and needs of the sponsors. They are responsible for making sure sponsors are listed in the program, for sponsor recognition, and for handing out awards to the sponsors. They must be great with people and act as an ambassador to the business community and other organizations. We want to keep our sponsors happy.
Workshop Coordinator and Volunteer Positions
The workshop coordinator and volunteers are responsible for booking speakers and organizations to hold workshops during the pageant day. They will work with the Little Miss coordinator for their workshops. You are responsible for facilitating workshops when needed, keeping track of time, introducing speakers, and making sure the workshop leaders have all the equipment they need to present. They are basically there to assist the workshop leader. They must be outgoing, enthusiastic, great with people, and have the ability to stay on task and keep with the schedule.
Venue Coordinator and Volunteer Positions
The venue coordinator and volunteers are responsible for making sure the venue is setup and to work with hotel staff or facility management to make sure the venue is properly setup. They are responsible for making sure the stage is setup and accessible, there is a podium for the MC, sound equipment is setup and working, and tables and chairs are setup. They may be expected to move, lift, and carry tables, chairs, and other equipment.
Volunteer Coordinator and Volunteer Positions
The volunteer coordinator and volunteers are responsible for recruiting volunteers to assist the other coordinators. They are responsible for making sure volunteers show up, recognizing volunteers, and making sure there is enough volunteer coverage throughout the day. They must be good at motivating people. They must be organized and able to make sure other coordinators have the coverage they need.
Other Positions
We also need a photographer and videographer, as well as someone to create the pageant programs.
